Welcome back to the Outcomes Rocket, Saul Marquez here and today I have the privilege of hosting Stephen Archer. He’s a Strategic Partner Liaison at Impresiv Health, helping connect executives with the resources they need to be successful. For over a decade, Stephen has worked with Central Florida’s leading organizations in health care, specializing in revenue cycle management and payer operations. Stephen is married with two amazing kids and enjoys showing them all the Florida has to offer. So I’m so excited to dive into the topic of getting executives what they need and focusing in on revenue cycle management with Stephen. And so, such a such a pleasure to have you on the show today.
Stephen Archer:
Likewise. Thank you very much for inviting me, Saul. I really appreciate it.
Saul Marquez:
Yeah. So what is it that inspires your work in health care, Stephen?
Stephen Archer:
I think health care provides a unique opportunity where has that combination where you’re able to innovate and also help others at the same time. So growing up, I had several health cares while I was a child in and out of the hospital and everything. So at a young age, I knew I wanted to be in health care. So it was just finding my spot in health care where where I’d be most effective. So this is the best opportunity to it forward.
Saul Marquez:
Love it, man. So a lot of us get called in through personal scares, family, Health care touches everyone. And so as we consider the things that executives need to keep in mind to improve that health care for their communities, what would you say is the value that your business is adding to the health care ecosystem?
Stephen Archer:
Yeah, most certainly. So what we’re doing is we provide consulting services to payers at what we call a fair market value. So I kind of a broad term. I would like to think of the price of health as the strategies of health care consultant staffing, if you will.
Saul Marquez:
So let’s dive into that a little bit more. What is it that you guys are doing? And maybe give us an example of a success story that you’ve been able to improve outcomes or business success for for a payer?
Stephen Archer:
Yeah, most definitely. Recently we supported a national ER they were struggling to meet their scheme’s regulatory requirements. So to provide assistance to help, we brought in one of our physician executives from our team. They were able to step in automatically improve culture policies, procedures, clinical systems. So by the end of it all, this health plan was able to rapidly improve their model of care and quality and the quality of care which they were delivering to their members.
Saul Marquez:
So this is interesting Right.. So you have the challenge where there are a lot of consultants and some of them may be charging way more than they actually provide in value. You guys are providing value without those big costs. What makes what you guys do different?
Stephen Archer:
So unlike other companies in our space, we have a very niche focused and expertise in managed care and across operations. So we’ve designed our services around what we feel that companies don’t do as well. So that kind of gives us our competitive advantage. So, for example, with that, we have off the shelf or repeatable tools and accelerators that promote best practices, operational efficiency, so we can provide that time the value in a tangible delivery each every engagement.
Saul Marquez:
So basically, you’ve identified those areas where the other players aren’t working as well and develop the suite tools and resources to help executives.
Stephen Archer:
Yes. So we have we have physician executives on our team, as well as nurses, case managers who have gone through to develop these tools that need regulation. So we’re able to come in and meet the health plan, deliver 80 percent of everything that’s tried and true best practices. And we’re really finding that other 20 percent of what makes that health plan. What would make it so you would want your mother’s a part of the health plan is what we always like to say. And we can deliver that number experience and reach out to their particular client.
Saul Marquez:

Saul Marquez:
What would you say is is one of the biggest setbacks you’ve experienced as you’ve put the business together and work with different clients and HMOs, the key learning.
Stephen Archer:
As far as my biggest setback I think this relates back to previous life before I joined Impresiv Health, I was part of a major of a major hospital system. And with that, we were implementing a new form of patient identification, which ultimately we ended up pulling the plug on. So it just goes to show, no matter how big the organization, how good the product may be without proper implementation, which is by training the staff, putting the product through the lines and a little bit after, of course, and just managing that that scope and scale, the project that it will fail. So that was kind of a big key takeaways if nothing is too big to fail essentially into providing that proper support. You can’t take that little bunny and police it out into the wild, expect it to survive.
Saul Marquez:
Yeah. Now, that’s a good, good call. And as you think about what you’re most excited about today, what would you say that is, Stephen?
Stephen Archer:
Well, aside from, of course, doing the podcast with you today, I think I’m most excited about is what we have lined up this year for 2020 for Impresiv Health.
Stephen Archer:
And we have several exciting partnership opportunities that we’re very excited about. And from each engagement that we had, there’s always a take away. So whether it’s the knowledge from that engagement, the relationship or the product that we’re been able to show to existing existing customers or future customers to where we can improve operations and procedures, I’m very excited about that. But I think I guess like if you’re on a grander scale, like health care in general, I’m really excited about the continued, improved use of data and how patients and members are going to be able to use their data becoming more and making their choices in health care.
Saul Marquez:
Yeah, that’s definitely a good one, Stephen. And how we use data does matter. And there’s a lot of things that potentially may not be clear. How do we tackle the use of data as it relates to patient throughput? How do we tackle the use of data across the many different silos that we’re working in so that we could work in a more truly integrated fashion? These are the types of topics organizations like yours want to do to improve performance and something that that Impresiv Health is doing a very unique thing with. Tell me you read a lot of books, Stephen, and I know you maybe have a recommendation for us here.
Stephen Archer:
As far as books go, a recommendation. There is tons of things out there. But my go to is always and will always be Oh The Place You will Go by Dr. Seus only in the pure fact that I do believe in seizing the moment every single day. And when you mention that data being siloed, I think now is the time that we seize that moment and that we take advantage of the tools that are out there. So whether it’s becoming more savvy and how we’re making other systems talk to each other or just in new ways of using the data where the patient member has total control of their data, they’re moving it from system to system, from place to place.
Saul Marquez:
Well, definitely important to seize the moment. I love the Dr. Seuss reference and folks thinking through what you’re going to do this year for your project management, you’re looking to implement something, just looking to improve processes, to improve outcomes and business success. Definitely important that you partner with the right people and you don’t want to spend a boatloads. Impresive’s Is doing a nice job of delivering value at a lower price with the results. And so, Stephen, love that you spent some time with us today. Why don’t you leave the listeners with closing thought and then the best place where they could continue the conversation with you?
Stephen Archer:
Yeah, definitely. So the best place you can be in contact with me would be either LinkedIn, Stephen Archer or via our website. And that’s Impresiv health.com I m p r e s i v dot com.
Saul Marquez:
Impresive without an E Right..
Stephen Archer:
Yes. Impresive without any an E. As far as like closing, I think it’s about collaboration with what we talked about, with either you’re trying to break down the silos, the data or just the overall process improvement implementation services. It’s important to have an open mind set when it comes to collaboration. I know the saying is out there. It takes a village and it truly does, especially in health care and health care community. And we’re going to improve the quality and care that we give to our patients, our members, whether it’s adopting new products, bringing on new business partners. It’s important to have having both in mind when it comes to collaboration.
Saul Marquez:
I love it, Stephen. And I also want to mention to the non providers and non payers listening industry folks, if you’re working with or wanting to work with payor companies as well as providers, Impresiv Health does have a unique perspective that could help you provide the services and technology that you’re looking to provide within the health care system, whether it be to an insurance company or payer, will definitely provide a unique perspective and helping you approach them as well. So please go to outcomes rocket that health, look up Impresiv health in the search bar. That’s impresiv without an E health. And you’ll see the entire show notes there with all of the transcripts and links that you need to engage with them. So, Steven, really want to thank you for spending time with us today.
