Last year, I wrote an article about the best podcasts in healthcare. I wanted to share the work of people doing a great job in the healthcare podcasting scene. The list was short and sweet. This year, I was impressed with the growth in the number and quality of podcasts in our space available to consume and enjoy. Below, I have listed some of my favorites along with links for you to access and listen to their content. I list them in no particular order but do encourage you to explore them.
The reason podcasts in healthcare have grown is because firms and individuals are realizing the benefits of podcasting. The closest thing to a face to face meeting with a handshake is a podcast. When a listener puts their headphones on or turns up the radio or desktop to listen, it is just you and them. When they like what you produce and tune in with more frequency, the repeat visits increase the familiarity and trust with you and your brand.
Another reason content producers in healthcare are gravitating to podcasts is because of the power of the platforms. What this means is leveraging platforms like Apple, Google, Spotify, iHeart Radio, etc. give brands and individuals access to leaders and consumers en-mass. Optimizing content for google search along is not enough to communicate through the noisy marketplace competing for your attention. Healthcare leaders are learning that optimizing for other platforms like podcast platforms helps them stand out more easily and less expensively.
It is no wonder the numbers are soaring. Through the past year, I have helped many companies start their podcasts because I believe the more content we produce as a group, the better off we will be. We’ve even started a turn-key podcasting solution for folks wanting to hit the easy button on podcast creation.
While I have not listed all of the podcasts on healthcare available, only the ones I believe are the best, how do you go about finding them all? Today there is no one place to find them all other than the platforms I mentioned above. Using keywords to find what you are looking for on Apple or Google Podcasts is the best way to do it. One friend and colleague who is the founder and host of Digital Health Today started a Health Podcast Network. His vision is to collect all of the podcasts in healthcare under one web roof. I think it is an admirable endeavor that will become a phenomenal resource for people seeking more healthcare knowledge.
I hope you enjoy the lists of podcasts below. My call to action for you is to step up and contribute your talents to the eco-system. If you want to take advantage of the timing, We’re still in the early stages of podcasting in healthcare. Do it sooner than later. If you don’t have the bandwidth to start your own, but have a great message to share, become a guest on one of the many already awesome podcasts out there. As a guest, you can benefit from sharing your message with the highly targeted audience podcasters have established. In summary, start a podcast or become a guest on a podcast.
