005 – Being Patient-Centric and Building Outstanding Teams in Healthcare with Scott Becker

Scott Becker is the former Chairman of Healthcare Law and has served on the board at McGuire Woods LLP since 2008.  He also serves as the founder and publisher at Beckers Hospital Review.  He graduated from Harvard Law School, where he studied with President Obama.  His career in healthcare has encouraged leaders in healthcare to speak up and take their organizations and patient outcomes to the next level.

Hot Topic that should healthcare leaders agenda:  Being patient care focused, how to do this better each year.  Being niche focused and customer centric.

Setbacks that you learned from:  Not taking roles that were exciting to me just to take the next step in climbing the ladder.  Do things that excite you and energize you!
Proudest leadership moments:  When people that worked with me in my law firm rose to the top and became a partner.  Helping others succeed “arrive” and grow into leaders themselves.  Be a level 6 leader.

An exciting project you’re working on:  Growing the Becker’s Hospital Review Executive meeting to a new level with the leadership of my partners, we’re hosting the brightest minds in healthcare.  Creating something exciting and interesting that entertains and teaches in a way that also improves healthcare.
